Vinyasa's strength is in it's diversity. The word Vinyasa means breath-synchronized movement, thus students of this practice move from one pose to the next on an inhale or exhale. There is no one single philosophy teachers must follow leaving it's exploration open to each student's individual personalities. This technique is sometimes also called Vinyasa Flow or just Flow, because of the smooth way the poses run together and become like a dance.

What to expect from a Vinyasa class?
If your class schedule lists a Vinyasa practice you can expect a lot of moving, not just stretching. Depending on the classes instructor, the pace may be either fast or slow. Some other very popular styles of vinyasa include power vinyasa flow and will be listed on the class schedule by their individual names.

Who can take Vinyasa Yoga?
Athens Five Points Yoga offers vinyasa classes to all individuals at all levels of skill or experience. We also offer a more advanced practice session of power vinyasa flow which describes a more vigorous, fitness-based approach to the traditional vinyasa-style yoga. Both have in common an emphasis on strength and flexibility. If you like things a little unpredictable and like to move then vinyasa yoga is probably right for you.

Is Power Yoga for You?
Power Vinyasa Flow will most likely appeal to those people already quite fit, and enjoy exercising at a vigorous rate.
