Through lecture, experiential practices in attention, intention, and attitude, students will gain an understanding of what mindfulness is, and how to incorporate self practices as well as practices to benefit yoga students.

Cathy Jackson, ERYT500 has studied & trained in various mind-body practices since 1992. She taught in the UGA dance department and the Ramsey Center from 1996 until 2017. During that time Cathy also worked with the swim and volleyball teams at UGA. Cathy taught both yoga and pilates at the Healing Arts Centre from 2001 until 2016. She has been a guest lecturer for the Physical Education Teacher’s Expo, for both Medical and Cancer Centers in Rome, GA. Her main emphasis is empowering each individual to develop the ability to be present, self-aware and joyful in stepping fully into the privilege of their own lives and in doing so come to appreciate and connect with the fullness and beauty of life. Other trainings and certifications include: Certified Mindfulness Yoga & Meditation Instructor (training at Spirit Rock Meditation Center, CA) from 2009-2012 Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) 2010 Mindfulness and the Brain with Dr. Daniel Siegel 2010 Foundations of Well Being with Dr. Rick Hansen 2016
