Kirtan is a sacred practice from Bhakti yoga in which you chant the divine names of God to create a heart-centered mood called Bhava. Chanting or “repetition of the name” calms the nervous system and relaxes the body while halting the “monkey mind” or chaotic thoughts that lead to suffering. Chanting helps dissolve the sense of separation from our fellows and the Divine. In this workshop, we will learn these heart-centered devotional practices for connecting deeply with one’s own heart and the Cosmic Consciousness. We will explore chanting and mantra, guided imagery and heart centered meditations aimed at deepening spiritual practice, svadhaya (self-study), and self-compassion/love.
