The Language of Touch— Practicum of Assists and Touch in Yoga
There is an art and a science to hands- on assists in yoga. Touch helps to communicate to the body direction, alignment, and adjustments that verbal cues often do not. Touch can also help assist students to deepen into the ease and calm of their breath, which frees up physical and emotional energy.
Building on the skills from Ethics with Heart, this workshop is for teachers who wish to learn more about alignment and the balance of effort and ease in your yoga practice. Practice teaching, observing and giving feedback will be included as part of 300 hour practicum.
Come prepared to learn:
*Ethical and responsible use of power as a teacher *Healthy alignment for maximum benefit for most bodies *Confidence in “reading” bodies, including your own *Enhance your ability to honor differences in bodies with an understanding of anatomy and psychology
*Practical reasons to touch or not in yoga poses
*The science behind touch
*Technical and applicable ways to assist another in poses
Anne Ethier is an ERYT200, a Licensed Professional Counselor, and Hakomi Practitioner. Anne has practiced, studied and taught wellness disciplines including yoga and dance since 1998. With 22 years of experience in the health and wellness industry, Anne brings a unique blend of body oriented counseling, mindfulness, a background in massage therapy, and extensive study in human physiology to the art of yoga.
