Dancing since age five, Barbi Powers has continually found solace while working in a dance or yoga studio. She was first introduced to yoga in 2002 while completing her B.F.A. at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. In 2009, Barbi became certified by Cindi Lee’s Om Yoga 200-hour vinyasa training. After dancing professionally with the Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company and performing as a Rockette with the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, Barbi turned her focus to teaching; she has instructed yoga in New York City, Utah, Wisconsin and Beruit Lebanon. In 2013, Barbi began studying yoga with Lucienne Vidah, a senior Iyengar instructor, and will continue to deepen her practice at the Iyengar institute in Prune, India next summer. Barbi holds an M.F.A. in dance from the University of Washington and is dance faculty at the University of Georgia. She is also a certified personal trainer, Pilates mat instructor, and meditation instructor.
