5 Points Yoga is a neighborhood studio nestled in the heart of the artsy, tree-lined community of 5 Points. Our studio is warm and inviting, with friendly and knowledgeable instructors. We pride ourselves in not only being a yoga studio, but a yoga community. We are place where people feel welcome, included and connected, not only to us but to each other.
We offer a variety of yoga classes for students of all levels. Whether you are looking to build a strong healthy body, learn alignment techniques or simply help alleviate stress, we have a class for you.
Our instructors work with students with all levels of experience, providing modifications for asanas (poses) as needed, helping them learn to listen to and trust the wisdom of their own bodies, and encouraging home practice to deepen the health and wellness benefits of yoga. All of our teachers are yoga alliance certified and are always evolving through continuing education and workshops to help keep their teaching fresh and inspiring.

Connecting Mind, Body, and Community.
Shannon is a student of yoga first, and a teacher second. She loves how the spirituality, philosophy and physicality of yoga practices help her connect to her truest Self. She hopes to provide a space in the yoga classroom for her students to do the same. Shannon has been practicing yoga since 1992 and began teaching in 2005. She is registered with Yoga Alliance as an ERYT-200 and 500 E-RYT. She teaches public classes, teacher trainings and workshops as well as working as a life coach. Shannon brings laughter and a fiery, positive environment to her alignment based flow classes.
Chet teaches with knowledge and precision that is the foundation of Iyengar Yoga. His classes equally emphasis strength, flexibility, stamina, and balance, with the Iyengar attention to detail and alignment that brings harmony to the body and mind. Chet became a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher in 2009, the culmination of years of yoga practice, study, teaching, and a rigorous examination process.
SJ Ursrey has been teaching Vinyasa Power Yoga since 2011. She received her 200 hour certification with Shiva Rea in Venice Beach, CA in the spring of that year and has been vinyasaing professionally ever since. SJ especially loves fluid movement and having fun while sweating out the issues in our tissues. She’s also been a professional singer and musician for over two decades, so connecting yoga with music is a passion for SJ. Yoga playlists are super fun to create and to yoga to, and you can expect a live serenade during every Savasana. Come play!
Annie received her 200-hr yoga teacher certification in October of 2012 through Global Yoga Shala in the gorgeous small town of Cubjac, France. She was lucky enough to train with eight amazing, inspiring people who influence her practice and teaching to this day. She loves spreading what she’s gained from yoga and only hopes to continue on this path, connecting with others and learning from their individual experience. To Annie, the bliss of yoga (and life) is found in the ability to seek the joy that is available to each of us, in every moment.
Christine discovered yoga in 2008 during her years as a college student at UGA and received her 200hr RYT from Athens Yoga Institute in 2014. She believes yoga is for everyone and that practice is a powerful tool to live as one’s best, authentic self. With a background in gymnastics and a love for movement, Christine is inspired to teach creative and intentional sequences with a focus on alignment and mindfulness. Ever a student, Christine continues to explore a variety of yoga styles. She is honored to share her down-to-earth and accessible approach to yoga with others.
Her practice centers around power vinyasa and loves idea that all movement is linked with breath, both on and off the mat. She believes that yoga helps center her mind and body and provides calm and connection to spirit making her a better wife to her husband, Brian, and mom to her two girls, Briley Paige and Eliannah Jane.
Julia began practicing Hatha yoga in 2004. Over the years she practiced for countless hours in studios on the East and West coast. Then she got married and started a family. As a stay at home mom she cultivated a daily home practice of asana, pranayama, and meditation. She believes that yoga can be a path to true connection to self and others. Julia is 200 Hour certified teacher and a recent graduate of Athens Yoga Institute.
Kate originally discovered yoga in 2007 in efforts to help reconnect to her body while battling disordered eating. The combination of meditation, breath work, and postures provided a space for her to discover wholeness and appreciation for her self in ways she had never experienced. Kate is a Certified 500 Hour Pranakriya Therapeutic Yoga Teacher, and her classes are a direct reflection of her Pranakriya training. Her hope is that each and every one of her students leaves class feeling more whole, alive, and worthy of being.
Sarah Katie Gillespie took her first yoga class in 1999 to augment her distance running. In 2005 she completed her 200 hour certification at Sonic Yoga in Manhattan, and for 10 years taught throughout New York City while continuing her own study under a variety of teachers, particularly Schuyler Grant and others at Kula Yoga Project. Sarah Katie teaches an alignment-based, vigorous vinyasa flow class with plenty of modifications and adjustments, and always set to rocking music.
Using simple yet profound methods of empathetic and genuine presence, mindful attention, and gentle acceptance, Anne helps students awaken to their growth and healing. Trained as a certified massage therapist, counselor and yoga teacher, Anne teaches anatomy in a practical and easily accessible format. With 22 years of experience in the health and fitness industry, Anne brings a unique blend of body oriented counseling, mindfulness, and extensive study in human physiology to the art of yoga.
Dana completed her 200 hour YTT at Five Points Yoga in 2018. Her classes foster self care, presence and deeper connection through gentle yoga sequences, spiritual teachings and the ancient lessons of the yogis to inspire health of body, peace in mind, reverence for all beings, and belief in the good things coming.
In 2012, Brenda began attending classes at The Yoga Source in Atlanta and found in yoga not only the physical benefits of toning and strengthening, but also personal balance from self awareness and spiritual renewal. Brenda brings Southern charm and positive energy to her yoga classes. Using encouragement, breath awareness and gentle alignment suggestions, her goal as an instructor is the help others discover their unique personal balance through coming to the mat. She is a YTT 200, Yoga Alliance certified teacher.
Lindsey is a wandering yogi currently based in Athens, GA. Sharing the grounding peace that she gets from yoga is one of her favorite things. As a fitness instructor since 2008 and a dedicated yogi for 5 years, she integrates western knowledge of the body with the ancient wisdom of yoga in classes that inspire. Lindsey’s classes focus on integrating breath and movement to ground students in their bodies and always include a few laughs.
